Doesn't your target file get created with the proper OIDs for 64 bit
counters ?

In router configuration file - you tell it which counters to poll for:

Router_number_1:public:64

Router_number_2:public:64

Router_number_3:public:32

Thanks,

Andy

Subject: [rtg] snmp v2 issues with rtg

Hello,

I am having issues with getting RTG to work with snmp v2. RTG somehow
seems to make connections through snmp v1. I have created a community
string "publi" which gives access through v2c and when I add this switch
to routers.conf with the "publi" community string and running the perl
script (rtgtar...) I get this error:

*****************************
SNMP Error:
Received SNMP response with error code
  error status: noSuchName
  index 1 (OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0)
SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "83.x.x.x" [83.x.x.x].161)

///// AND SOME MORE ERRORS FOR THIS SWITCH HERE///
*****************************

As you can see, RTG is creating an SNMPv1 connection, despite the fact
that this community string is for v2 only!

I have installed paessler's snmp tester and tested community "publi" on
this switch:

10/21/2007 3:33:31 AM (0 ms) : Start using SNMP V2c
10/21/2007 3:33:31 AM (2 ms) : GET: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.1
10/21/2007 3:33:31 AM (43 ms) : -------
10/21/2007 3:33:31 AM (45 ms) : Result: -1001
10/21/2007 3:33:31 AM (46 ms) : Value: Unknown data type (= 128)
10/21/2007 3:33:31 AM (47 ms) : Done

Somehow it does work.

SNMP v1 works great, but I need to snmp v2 because I need 64bit
counters.

Any help would be truely appreciated.

Best regards,

Tom
