Are you using latest CVS?  What does your build environment look like?  What
distro / compiler / libraries do you have installed?

I just grabbed latest CVS, and following your instructions literally
(./configure, libtoolize --force, make), stopped well before you, with
errors regarding a missing cgilib/.deps/cgi.Po.  Fixing that (by grabbing
the old version of cgi.Po), I failed on contrib/targetmaker.tar.gz (which
doesn't exist), which I fixed by deleting the reference to it in
contrib/Makefile.

At that point, the build went with 0 errors.
