maybe this is a crazy idea, maybe not:
perhaps we should consider integrating ourselves with (e.g) cacti for
graphing templates and functionality. at one point in time, cactid was
simply an rtgpoll fork. they now use something called 'spine' which may
or may not be derived from rtgpoll.
perhaps by focusing on polling (something rtgpoll does well) and leaving
the arrangement and definition of graphs (something cacti does well)
would be a better use of resources.
since development seems to be all but dead or distributed to a bunch
of personal forks, i'm not sure what "focusing" even means, but integrating
w/ another project w/ a more active developer base may breathe new life
into the project.
just a thought.
